Pecos County

Pecos County is located south of Odessa in West Texas, created in 1871 and organized in 1875. Named for the Pecos River, it’s one of nine counties in the Trans-Pecos region of the state. Pecos County today is home to a population of about 16,000 people, covering more than 4700 square miles of land. Communities within Pecos County include Coyanosa, Imperial, Girvin and Bakersfield. The city of Fort Stockton serves as the county seat.
